If you haven’t noticed yet, I really love food, and I really love trying new places. And, if you haven’t heard yet, the soft opening of the highly anticipated Jianna was last night. Once I heard, I’m not gonna lie, I stalked the place to figure out if we could get a reservation, and thankfully, we did, which was a GREAT excuse for a Tuesday date night.
First of all, the location, the atmosphere, and the decor are amazing. I cannot wait to enjoy a glass of prosecco on that wrap around patio on a beautiful day. The service was phenomenal, especially for a soft opening! The staff was super friendly and the service was fast – definitely exceeded my expectations for so early on.
Now, let’s get to the important part. The food. A restaurant in Greenville cannot survive without substance, and Jianna has SUBSTANCE, and I know this, because we literally tried everything…ok, maybe not everything, but A LOT of the menu. We basically treated the menu like an Italian “Lazy Goat” and shared all the apps and small plates.
If I had to pick my personal, absolute favorites it would be the Potato Gnocchi, the Spaghetti TBG, and the Salted Caramel Semifreddo, but seriously, it was ALL GOOD!
Here is a little taste of Jianna…
First things first. The Cocktails. They have numerous Negroni-inspired cocktails that all sound delicious if you like gin. I ordered The Countess, and it was so good! I always love a good cocktail with a splash of prosecco in it!
Burrata | Potato Gnocchi
Burrata is always a good choice, but the Ricotta Crostini was another HUGE hit for our table and super easy to share (not pictured). And that potato gnocchi was “melt in your mouth” good with just the right amount of bacon!
Yellowtail | Chilled Market Oysters
I’ll admit I’m not really one for raw oysters, but the rest of the table loved them. The yellowtail was “citrusy” and so fresh!
Acquerello Carnaroli Risotto & Polpette (meatballs!) | Spaghetti TBG
You can’t go wrong with risotto or meatballs. Both prepared very well! And this spaghetti may look and sound like boring, bland noodles with some tomatoes, but I assure you, it was delicious!!
And naturally we couldn’t decide on dessert, so we ordered two.
Umbrian Citrus Olive Oil Cake | Salted Caramel Semifreddo
I could have eaten a few of these semifreddos! SOOOO GOOD!
I must say that sampling a bunch of items off the menu was the way to go with a group of friends! Although, we’ve decided that next time, we will simply order and share all of the “large plates” on the menu, since we didn’t get to a single one. But, based on the appetizers and small plates, I can confidently say this place is devine, and I cannot wait to return for more!
Welcome to Greenville, Jianna!
