QT to Charleston

We had a quick overnight trip to Charleston on Saturday to celebrate our Godson’s Baptism on Sunday morning.  Thankfully, we were kid-free for the night and were thrilled to take full advantage of a last minute date night in one of our favorite cities.  Here is a weekend recap:

Cannon Green

We started the night out at the trendy Cannon Green for a cocktail and appetizer at the bar.  Our bartender was awesome and we enjoyed the Flying Squirrel and Iced Coffee cocktails, alongside the Raviolo and Baby Beets Salad.  The Raviolo was to die for, even though I was a little weary of the duck egg, we ended up soaking up every last drop of this dish with their delicious bread.  Who could waste a bowl of brown butter?

Xiao Bao Biscuit

Next, we headed to XBB for dinner.  We had the popular, Okonomiyaki, fully loaded with a farm egg, bacon, and pork candy.  Who knew a cabbage pancake could be so delicious?! When you describe this dish to me, it sounds incredibly odd, but let me tell you, it was AMAZING!  We also got the La Zi Ji chicken, which was also really good.  I switched gears here and had a tequila cocktail, the Damelo, that was super tasty!  I also loved the laid back atmosphere of this spot.

CRU cafe

Literally the place that made me fall in love with bread pudding years ago.  So, that is where we went for dessert and a glass of wine to top off our date night.  Strawberry and Peach Bread Pudding – SO YUMMY! If you haven’t had it, add this to your list next time you visit Charleston.  It’s also fun to sit at their small “bar”, looking into the kitchen to watch them cook this! Dinner here is also not to be downplayed, especially if you can sit outside on the cute porch.  This restaurant has always been one of our Charleston favorites.

Grand Bohemian Hotel

We clearly didn’t spend much time in our hotel, but I would highly recommend the Grand Bohemian, solely based on how comfortable our bed was!  The decor throughout the entire hotel is very swanky, modern, and artistically inspired, and it is situated in the heart of downtown Charleston, so it was perfect for our quick one night stay.

Black Tap Coffee

Before church Sunday morning, we stopped at one of my favorite places to get a fancy latte in Charleston, Black Tap.  The Brown Sugar Latte is so good and of course, the ambiance is intimate and cozy, set in an old historic Charleston neighborhood.

Baptism

Our Godson, Mac’s, baptism was at the beautiful and historic First Scots Presbyterian Church downtown Charleston.  It was super sweet and we are so proud to be his Godparents!  We love each member of this family so much, and are pleased to be tied to them forever!

What I Wore

I am loving my new Tyler Boe Kristen dress from Monkee’s.  This dress is super comfortable and versatile, AND it has pockets.  I had the Kim Cowl version for the winter, and knew I needed this dress when the Spring version came out.  My print is sold out online, but Monkees may have a few more in store, plus, it is available in so many other fun prints and solids!  For reference, I am wearing an XS.  I styled the dress with my staple Rag & bone booties and my simple VSA San Benito necklace .

Before the weekend, we were reading through a lot of different Baptism-related verses and found this beautiful and powerful quote that we loved.  Such a great reminder!
