Weekend Recap | C Turns 3!

Confession…I was totally one of those girls that rolled their eyes at moms that “over-posted” pictures of their kids on social media and was baffled by the comment, “they just grow up so fast”.  I always thought, “well yeah, just like us, they grow, such is life”. I know this makes me sound so cruel…haha, but I didn’t mean it in a mean way, I just wasn’t “there” yet.  I didn’t know what it meant to love someone so much more than yourself and to feel like you would literally do anything in the world for them…for real, anything.  That is motherhood.  And watching your kids grow is the sweetest, most bittersweet experience.  And as obvious as this statement is, they truly are “only little once”.  So, even though I am so incredibly proud of the little BOY that Crawford is becoming, it makes my heart ache that he is growing up, even if he is only 3….geez, we’ve got a long way to go.  We have so much to look forward to…lots of love, and hugs, and kisses, and independence but also more separation from the sweet, needy baby he has been the past few years.  It can be frustrating and exhausting to be “needed” but it is also the most valuable thing in life to be needed as a mother to your sweet child.

I will also confess that all boy “themes” made me cringe….Super Heroes, trucks, trains, etc…it was all cheesy to me.  And here we are throwing a John Deere themed birthday party. Jokes on me.

PARTY TIME: C turns 3!

It was the most beautiful day and we had Crawford’s birthday party in our cul-de-sac, which is perfect to let the kiddos just run around and play!

We rented this John Deere from Hillside Farm and it was quite a hit!  The kids loved climbing on it and sitting in the driver’s seat, and then at the end of the party, we went on a short little hayride, which was so much fun!

The treats are another part of birthday parties that I get super excited about.  We made some Rice Krispie treat “hay bales” and “grass” and the rest I ordered from local bakers in Greenville.  The cake pops were DELICIOUS and were ordered from Let them Eat Cake Pops.  This girl is talented – check out some of her work on IG or FB!  The cookies were made by Diep Silas, IsabeeCookies, and I was amazed at her detail in the tractor and John Deere cookies, not to mention how yummy they were! The mini cupcakes were from The Bakery on Augusta.

I also ordered these adorable suckers from Ju-C Suckers on Etsy. I am pretty sure Crawford didn’t put his down the entire party.

We had such a blast with friends and family! So thankful to be surrounded by these people. The kids obviously had a blast!

I wore this adorable and super comfy romper from Anthroplogie…..and I ended up transitioning it from day to night (aka I didn’t have time to change/was too lazy)!

Dahl Romper

I love the subtle print and relaxed fit!

Saturday Night

Revisiting the Anchorage once again, and had a drink on their rooftop patio for the first time.  The restaurant gets better and better each time I go.  They update their menu frequently and we always try to get a little bit of everything for the table to share.  These were just a few of my favorites this trip:

Bahamian Style Salted Bass Fritters

The Fritters…no matter what fish they are made with or their varying accompaniments, they are delicious every time and great for the table to share!

Hand Cut Pappardelle

Pasta truly is the way to my heart.  And the thicker the noodle, the better.  If pappardelle is on the menu, I am usually going to order it regardless of how it is prepared.  And we got lucky with this one, it was by far my favorite dish of the night.

Vegetables

At many restaurants ordering a “veggie plate” may be considered a little boring, but not at the Anchorage.  Their vegetables are sourced locally and are super fresh.  My favorites were the Wood Roasted Carrots and the Roasted Hakurei Turnips & Beets.

Tiramisu

The dessert menu never disappoints.  I don’t typically like Tiramisu, but it was highly recommended, so we tried it and it had the best flavor and was super creamy.

Hope you all had an amazing weekend!

I will leave you with this verse that I pray daily for my boys. (and it obviously applies for me, as well!)
