A Little Update to Our Master

When we moved into our house 6 years ago, we had a TON of expenses as we had done a huge renovation and were in a good bit of debt due to purchasing a new home, student loans, etc… And let’s get real, year after year went by and updating our bedroom stayed at the bottom of the list as we decorated all the main rooms in the house, and both of our boys’ rooms. So, finally it was our turn to do a little update to our own bedroom, especially since our bedroom furniture was Nelson’s growing up. My main goal for this update was to make this space light, comfy and cozy.

One of the first things I bought for our bedroom update was this beautiful Rebecca Hoyle piece I had commissioned. I love having a piece of our hometown hanging over our bed.

When we did Grayson’s big boy room earlier this year, I partnered with Beddy’s for his bedding, and immediately was obsessed with it due to not only the ease and comfort, but also for its’ simple and chic style. The ease of bed making is a no-brainer for a child’s bed, but then I thought, “why not have this bedding in our own bedroom and make our lives a little bit easier?” Beddy’s is a one piece unit for your bed with the entire bedding fitting like a fitted sheet. I was wanting a clean look, so went with the Love at First White and we have loved it! I originally was going to buy a duvet for the foot of the bed, but then ended up loving the look of our “old” Pottery Barn quilt lying at the foot. And finally, for our finishing touches on our bed, I added these stunning Maison de vacances pillows from Paula Rallis Home and my husband has never been more annoyed than he is with the amount of pillows on our bed, but I DON’T CARE.

I had been eyeing our bedroom furniture on Pottery Barn’s site for a while, and went with this beautiful distressed gray wash dresser and set of bedside tables.

I love the way it turned out and knowing me, will continue to add little trinkets here and there or change out the pillows in a few months, but these small little changes have made a huge difference! Now to decide which room is next!?
