Crawford,
I want you to remember these birthdays and see these pictures, knowing that yes, momma did them for herself (because she already has the worst memory, that will only get worse), but also for you. I want you to look back at these memories and pictures and feel the true and deep love that we have for you. I spoiled you the week of your birthday, because I wanted to show you love and I wanted you to truly know how special you are to us. You should know and feel this year round, but especially on your birthday. You, my sweet boy, are one of a kind.
Time truly is a thief. Each year flies by faster and faster and you get bigger overnight. You are a little shy and timid at first impression, but boy do you open up quickly. Watching you gain confidence and pride in who you are fills my heart. You love to run and jump, but are slightly cautious, giving this momma peace of mind for the moment. You love to go to school and talk about your friendships and making your teachers proud. I literally talk about you sometimes and start to tear up. I am so incredibly proud of the sweet boy you are.
You tell us often how much you love us and even try to “win” every time we say we love you more. You love to cuddle, maybe even more so than your mommy, which seems impossible. As your birthday approached and I looked through pictures of you over the past year, I tried to think of some of our fondest memories- our 1st trip to the GA Aquarium, seeing the Ringling Bros Circus in Greenville for their last tour, your stand out Drummer Boy Christmas performance, you learning how to swim and love the water (including countless days at the pool), and you truly stepping into the role of being a great big brother and friend.
This year, your birthday was a little different for us, because you really “got it” this year. You attended multiple birthday parties in the months prior to your birthday and realized that everyone indeed has a birthday, not just you. And that only the birthday boy/girl is allowed to open the gifts. But, you also now understand the importance of sharing and letting your little brother help open a gift, just so that he will feel included. You have been so excited for months about your superhero birthday party and literally told everyone about it!
We are so, so incredibly lucky that you are ours! We pray for you every single night and love you with all of our hearts!
Happy 4th Birthday! Love, Mom
I have totally become that mom that gets sentimental over their children growing older (which obviously is inevitable and exciting to watch…but also so incredibly sad and scary at the same time). But all that aside, most of you know by now that I am a “birthday person”. I love birthdays, and not only my own, but love for others to feel loved and special on their day, so Crawford is stuck with it. I’m pretty sure I forced birthday celebrations on him the entire week, but thankfully at his age, he was just as excited as I was about each event and celebration! So, straight to Pinterest, Etsy and Amazon I went for inspiration party planning!
Crawford was so excited about his birthday this year and actually picked the theme of his party! We were lucky with beautiful weather, so that we could have his party in our culdesac once again this year.
I ordered these Super Hero Capes & Masks from Amazon! And after the party, I’m sure the boys will LOVE playing dress up with them at home. The beautiful banner came from Sweet Buttercup Designs on Etsy!
Masks from Amazon for all the Superheroes
The birthday boy’s special cape was our Halloween costume from Hanna Anderson! Such a great quality cape and mask! And our city backdrop and special props from Amazon were perfect for pictures!
Cupcakes from my sweet friend Christine of Baking Sweet Scents and cookies from Diep of Isabee Cookies!
Seriously, how amazing are these!?!
Spider-Man even made an appearance, which was such a special treat! We hired him from a local agency, called Simply Enchanted SC and he did a fantastic job! The kids LOVED him! He even bounced in the bounce house with them! (SuperHero bounce house from ABC Rentals)
We had THE best time celebrating our very favorite Superhero! We cannot believe he is FOUR!
This is amazing! My son is obsessed with super man so I’ll definitely be using this as inspiration for his next birthday!
Wow. You did such a great job with the party! My little one turns three this year and I’m feeling all sorts of sentimental about it so I can totally relate!
