I LOVE jeans and my husband would say that I have far too many, but I wear them constantly, and can you really have too many pairs of jeans?!. I don’t wear jeans much during the Summer, because I am hot-natured, but once Fall rolls around I am excited to break them out and usually buy a new pair for the Season. Because let’s be honest, our bodies fluctuate and change, (especially if you are in the season of having kids, etc…) as do styles and trends, so TREAT YOURSELF to a new pair of jeans and consider it “Happy Fall to you”. Even though it’s a consistent 90 degrees here in South Carolina, it is still time to start thinking about Fall favorites and Jeans are a great staple to start with. I truly believe in good, quality denim that fit well and last, so that is what I am going to start with. For you locals, I have rounded up my favorite pairs of denim from a few of our local boutiques. I will be listing them by store in order to make it easier to find the ones you want, and will note which ones are my favorites! Prepare for a little denim overload.
We will start here because this IS a jean boutique. You really can’t go wrong here and actually have a great range of prices and styles. I have a few pairs of classic boot cut/flares from the past, but I still LOVE a skinny jean, so that is mainly what you will see from me. The girls at Twill are so helpful in helping you find the style you are looking for in a fit that flatters your body type.
FRAME Le Skinny De Jeanne in Andover
We will start with my favorite. FRAME is a relatively new brand to me in the past couple of years and has quickly become my favorite. The fit is spot on for me and the length is perfect for my 5’6″ frame (pun intended). I also love that they are narrow, but not too narrow at the ankle, so fit great in booties! Every pair of FRAME denim I have ever tried have had a good amount of stretch in them and have been really comfortable. I love this pair with a little extra distressing than I am used to!
For reference, I am about 5’6″, 130 lbs (last time i checked..haha) and am wearing a size 27 in all the jeans I tried on for this post.
FRAME Le Skinny De Jeanne raw edge in Imperial
A good dark blue denim with a little edge. Another super comfortable pair from Frame.
FRAME Le High Skinny Raw Edge Enford
These were a close second. I know it’s a lot of distressing, but I LOVE it and the high waist! A little less stretchy than the 2 pairs above and more of a true denim.
Mother The Looker in Dark Graffiti
I love this wash. I have them in the step hem version (see below) and they have quickly become a favorite.
Mother The Looker Crowd Pleaser
If you don’t own a pair of Mother jeans, this is a great pair to start with- a nice clean wash, great mid-rise. Good classic skinny and are a little bit longer on me than the FRAME jeans, so good for your taller girls!
Mother The Looker High Waisted
The rise in jeans is getting higher and higher and I love it. Great to suck you in! These are another great classic pair of dark wash skinny jeans.
Citizens of Humanity Rocket Hi-Lo Hem
Another pair that I loved, but are too similar to my Mother hi-lo hems AND the most expensive jeans I have tried on.
Gray Denim
Gray denim is so on trend this Fall and I have been on the fence about getting them, but after trying on every pair in town, I am convinced I need them now. Twill offers a great selection and I swear each pair was softer than the last.
Mother The Looker High Waist Ankle Fray
I love this shade of light gray and these were super soft and comfy!
A darker, almost faded black option and another pair of super soft and comfy gray.
Citizens of Humanity Silver Lining Rocket Sculpt
These were like pajamas. SO soft and super flattering!
Articles of Society Sarah Skinny Jeans
A great option for clean, black denim. These jeans are an amazing price point and actually fit REALLY well! Twill has them in a few styles and washes! The Sarah fit are a little bit more of a lower rise – when compared to some of the options above with mid and high rise, but I wouldn’t necessarily say they are “low”. Articles of Society also make a mid-rise option called the Stephanie if you want something a little bit higher.

Articles of Society Sarah Skinny Jeans
Check them out at Twill or I have linked some of my faves from Nordstrom below, and they are free shipping and returns!
Another style I have worn for years. Just as the name implies, you could dance in them. They are super stretchy but fit really well, like a true jean legging. Savvy just got in another dark wash and a gray wash!! Love!
A great low-rise option and love the ankle fit, especially with flats or sneakers.
The Twiggy has a great mid-rise and have the perfect length for me, hitting right below the ankle. I love the light distressing of this pair. I also like the fit and wash of this pair, but they were not quite as stretchy as I normally like, however, a great pair of denim!
Another brand and style that I love the fit. They have a nice mid-rise and great length. This wash wasn’t super stretchy, but I love how narrow they are around the knee and ankle, so great for wearing with boots or booties!
I totally caved on these hi-low hem jeans from Augusta Twenty and I love them so much! I have already worn them a bunch. They look awesome with sneaks and flats and can’t wait to wear them with booties!
P Squared
I have these and LOVE them! they are super stretchy, soft, and very slimming. Love the raw hem! These are a dark, dark wash.
On Trend, On a budget…Old Navy
As far as Old Navy goes, I have said this before…specifically when I found my FAVORITE pair of white, distressed skinnies from Old Navy of all places…but they have SERIOUSLY stepped up their denim game. The option of multiple rises and addition of this wonderful “Built-In Sculpt” option, and I must admit that trying on jeans in store is obviously preferred, but because Old Navy offers so many options and washes and styles, etc…it is VERY overwhelming. I honestly would recommend just ordering multiple sizes online and then returning them. Plus, most of their denim is on sale right now!
I personally size down in Old Navy to a size 2 (sometimes I’ll get a 4) and they stretch a little bit with wear.
If you are looking for a skinny, inexpensive pair of jeans, you really can’t go wrong if the word Rockstar is in front of it. I personally prefer the mid-rise and all 3 of these pairs that I tried on the other day were super comfortable and fit great!
I normally go for darker washes as they tend to be more slimming and flattering, but I am really digging these light gray skinnies.
I realize this step hem trend is probably only here to stay for a few seasons, but I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought the Mother ones I mentioned above because I loved them so much! BUT this is a great inexpensive option for those of you who may not be ready to dive into a “trend”.
ALRIGHT, ladies. That is it. Let me know if you have any additional questions about anything I listed. Hope this was helpful and happy shopping!
Happy Wednesday!
