Thirty-Three

Age is simply a NUMBER.  I could honestly care less.  The only time I might feel a little insecure about my age is when I’m chatting with the cute girls at the gym or the coffee shop or out shopping and feeling like I am “their age” and they end up being about 10 years younger…haha.  But hey, you are as old as you feel, right?!  I am grateful that in this phase of my life I have best friends that are the same age as me, 5 years older than me and 5 years younger than me.  Again, age is just a number, so surround yourself with people that fill you up and build you up.  And even though this isn’t a huge birthday for me, at the age of 33, I am still excited to celebrate another year.  Another year figuring out who I am and what I want to do with my life.  Another year growing in my faith and striving to be a servant for the Lord.  Another year loving my husband and my sweet boys as they grow way too quickly.  Another year learning how to be a better wife and mom through my own experiences and mistakes.  Another year getting stronger, physically and mentally.

We are coming up on my 1 year blog anniversary and in case I haven’t been transparent enough, I figured I would share 33 things you may or may not know about me!

  1. My hubs and I literally met on a snorkeling trip in the Caymen Islands. We went to the same tiny little college (Wofford College), but didn’t know each other until this trip…and it was history from there basically.
  2. I LOVE fresh flowers…and buy them for myself almost everytime I go to the grocery store…and they almost always die within the week.  HAHA!
  3. I really hate washing my face.  But recently decided I HAD to invest in my skin so that I didn’t look 60 at the age of 40.
  4. Im terrified to stay at the house by myself. And I’m kind of scared of the dark.  I will RUN out of a dark room.
  5. I go stir-crazy WAY too easily. Like, I cannot go one day without leaving the house, even during my maternity leave, it was rare to find me chillin’ at home all day long.
  6. I love reality tv – my faves are the Bachelor/Bachelorette, Real Housewives, and definitely So You Think You Can Dance.
  7. Speaking of dance..I was a tomboy and played just about every sport growing up but in my adult life discovered my LOVE for dancing, especially hiphop and it makes me kind of sad my parents didn’t make me dance growing up..haha. (In reality, I’m probably just not that good either)
  8. I am a pediatric home health physical therapist. I have also worked in adult orthopedics but truly love peds.
  9. I LOVE a sale. I mean, I’m already a shopaholic but put it on sale and it doesn’t even matter if I really need it…I’ll prob convince myself that I do and the sale is too good.
  10. I have always been an athlete, but I cannot keep up with sports these days. Who is playing this weekend? I have no clue.
  11. I have a major sweet tooth. Like I have to have just ONE bite of sweetness after lunch (sometimes) and dinner.
  12. I polevaulted in high school. Jumped 10 feet. woohoo! (But seriously the biggest adrenaline rush!) I also played College volleyball all 4 years at Wofford College.
  13. I played the piano, the flute, and the cello growing up…I can’t play any of them now.hahaha. so sad.
  14. I do NOT eat fast food – unless its Chick-fila (which I don’t consider fast food).
  15. I despise truffle, like can’t even stand it if it’s on the table. The smell..the taste..gross.  Same goes for Blue Cheese.
  16. I really don’t like being cold – I have Raynaud’s and my fingers and toes go numb in like 60 degrees.
  17. I also sweat excessively. Like, it’s bad, even if I’m cold…I’m usually sweating.
  18. I have to eat eggs every morning. I used to hate them and then after my 1st pregnancy, became addicted.  My husband makes them for me every morning. Bless him.
  19. I have ridiculously high expectations when it comes to special occasions and surprises. I am trying REALLY hard to fix this, because it is unhealthy. My poor husband…
  20. Christmas is my favorite holiday and 4th of July is a close 2nd.
  21. I have 2 boys. 21 months apart.  We kind of planned it that way.  We are crazy.
  22. We are pretty sure we want a third child, but KNOW we don’t want them that close, so we shall see.
  23. I love wine – and I don’t discriminate. Red, White, Rose.  All the wine.  I also love tequila.
  24. I am seriously obsessed with our house. Old character and renovated.  But secretly, I want to demolish and build from scratch in the exact location.  I hope we NEVER leave this culdesac.  We lucked out with the location and the sweetest neighbors!
  25. I’ve been teaching power yoga for almost 6 years and I LOOOOOVE it!  I also LOVE handstands…obviously.
  26. I started this blog for fun, but it definitely has provided some stress in my life. But I have to keep reminding myself WHY I started it.
  27. I have the WORST memory. Seriously, I don’t remember most of my childhood – it really frustrates my sisters.  Most of my memories are from pictures that I have looked at and truly don’t remember the experience exactly.  It actually kind of sad.  I’m sure there is some kind of oil to fix that.
  28. I am willing to TRY ANYTHING!!!! Seriously you can sell me anything. I’m relatively “easy” in that aspect.
  29. I’m annoyingly indecisive. (if you know me, I’m sorry…I’m trying, truly!)
  30. It is very difficult for me to focus on 1 thing. If I’m watching tv, I’m also writing a blog post, or documenting for work, or making a playlist, or folding clothes, or all of the above.
  31. I get uninterested in things real quick. House of Cards, Game of Thrones, Homeland, etc… (I know…don’t shame me) but I LOVED the 1st few seasons and then I just got lost..probably because I was folding laundry.
  32. I am a workout ADDICT. If I have the time, I will go.  Seriously, I would work out all day if you let me.
  33. I am 1 of 3 girls (2 sisters who are 2 of my bestest friends), so I always wanted girls…I have 2 boys.

I treated myself to this adorable jumpsuit for my birthday! Yet another fact, if you couldn’t tell from my blog already, I am OBSESSED with jumpsuits and rompers!

Cupcakes & Cashmere Jumpsuit  // Sam Edelman Heels

Stella & Dot earrings // Necklace

Gosh…I could go on and on with these facts, and maybe next year I’ll try to think of 34 new facts….haha.  This little blog post reminded me how quirky I am.  But here is to another WONDERFUL year! I have no idea what this year holds for me or our family, but that is what is so great and exciting!

Also, for my birthday, I decided as a little thank you to my followers, I would do a fun giveaway.  Well, it was hard to just pick 1 thing, so since I turned 33, I decided on 3 things to give away.  3 things that in ways have impacted me in the past year of my life.  As a treat for actually reading this blog post, you are getting a little sneak peek on what these giveaways are and why I chose them. But head over to @handstandhappiness to enter throughout the week!

  •  Village Grind gift card:  It might sound silly that a coffee shop has impacted me in the past year, but honestly the Village Grind has.  It is the place that I go to not JUST grab an amazing latte (although sometimes I do just that to-go), but it’s also where I choose to go to get paperwork done for my new job (prior to doing home health, my paperwork was typically done in an office, so it’s so nice to be able to do paperwork in such a sweet setting).  It’s the place I choose to have a conversation with a friend over a cup of coffee.  It is often where I choose to sit in a quiet corner and do a devotion or read my bible, or work on the blog.  The people there, regardless of if they are behind the counter serving coffee or sitting beside you, they are warm and friendly.  It truly is such a special little coffee joint….obviously with the BEST latte.  I just love it.

  • Stella & Dot earrings:  Some of you may already know this, but back in November, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and finally say YES (even though I am a YES person and do it so often) to signing on to be a stylist with Stella & Dot.  I had said “No, I don’t have time” many times, but finally decided, WHY NOT!?! So, I took the leap and although it’s only been a few months, I am meeting so many inspiring women through my team and have truly enjoyed simply spending time with girls at trunk shows.  It’s been such a fun and positive side hustle….and obviously the jewelry is a huge plus!

  • MADabolic.  I’m sure this is no surprise to anyone.  I love working out and love many workouts, but am SUPER biased to MADabolic for their interval training and Soul Yoga for their power yoga flow.  I say I am biased because I teach classes at each place, but I TRULY love what they have to offer.  I started with MADabolic shortly after they opened their location here in Greenville, and it has gotten me in the best shape of my life.  Not only is it a workout that I look forward to signing up for, but I LOVE the people I work with and the people I sweat beside.  There are so many awesome and inspiring people in this gym and it is something very cool to be apart of!

Head over to my instagram page and follow along this week for a chance to enter these giveaways!! Good luck, friends!!

Happy Monday and Happy Birthday to me (and Happy early Valentine’s Day to everybody!)

XO
